Working with customs cases
Create customs cases, review HS codes and goods items, add required documents and move the customs status through to release.

The customs page
Tiles for on hold, documents missing, ready to declare and declared; filters by status and procedure (export, import, transit T1, transit T2, A.TR, EUR.1 origin, none). On the right, the country rules panel shows EU/non-EU, customs system, e-invoicing mandate, toll, driving bans and VAT ID prefix per country.
Creating a customs case
- Automatically: for orders crossing an external EU border, the customs agent creates the case and assesses it (customs assessment proposal, L2 – one click to approve).
- Manually: order → customs tab → create customs case or start AI assessment; alternatively create a customs case for an order by entering the order ID.
Reviewing the case and goods items
- In the case details, check the route, transit countries, Incoterm, declaration system, EORI (exporter/importer) and customs agent.
- Check the goods items: HS code, confidence, alternatives, origin, value, duty %.
- Editing an HS code opens the HS search (code prefix or description). Applying a code sets its confidence to 100 %.
Nota: HS codes are legally binding – which is why HS classification by the AI stays on L1 and always needs your review.
Documents, sanctions and duties
- Required documents (e.g. commercial invoice, packing list, EUR.1, T1, A.TR, customs declaration, CMR): upload any that are missing.
- On the right, review the sanctions check and the customs & VAT estimate (goods value, duty, import VAT).
Changing the status
- Open the status change dialog.
- Choose the new status: not required, documents missing, ready to declare, declared, released, on hold or error.
- Enter the MRN, declaration system (ATLAS, E_ZOLL, NCTS, CDS, PASSAR, AIDA, DELTA) and a note → apply.
Nota: Declared requires an MRN (mrn_required_for_declared). Customs holds and missing customs documents also appear as exceptions in the control tower.
